Questions You Should Ask and We can Answer
- Why is physical therapy the best choice to treat my problems? Simply put, independent medical research repeatedly concludes that physical therapy is one of the best options for patients with pain-related and/or sports-related movement disorders.
- How long will it take to recover? This question can only be answered after a thorough initial evaluation. Once completed, you will be provided with a prognosis (the length of time for you to recover).
- What is the best care for my problem? There is a wealth of new medical research that supports conservative physical therapy treatment for numerous muscle, joint and movement disorders. Many of these resources are on our website.
- What if I want to do my own rehabilitation? If it is your desire to independently rehabilitate yourself, we will make every effort to accommodate your wishes. However, if you need our services, we will share our expert opinion with you and you are free to make your own choice of course.
- Are you a member of your professional association? Not only is Jim a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, he is has completed extensive continuing education. See Jim's biography for details.
- Do you have any advanced degrees or certifications? Jim has advanced certifications in physical therapy, has attended 20 continuing education courses since graduation, and is certified in the mechanical diagnosis and treatment (MDT) of neck and low back problems using the popular McKenzie Method. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), and the National Pitching Association (NPA).
- Are you willing to refer out if I don't experience results within a few visits? You should notice an improvement in your condition after just a few visits. Everyone is different but if any inconsistencies are noticed, you will be immediately referred to the appropriate healthcare provider.
- How are you different than a chiropractor? Chiropractic is a "one-size-fits-all" method of treatment. Regardless of your problem, the primary method of treatment is a spinal adjustment. In contrast, physical therapy intervention depends of the identification or your specific needs then treatment is directed in that area. In other words, if a muscle is tight, we stretch it. If a joint is stiff, we mobilize it. If scar tissue is present, we help reduce it. If a muscle group is weak or lacks endurance we strengthen it. That's just he beginning. We then retrain you to recover normal movement patterns and empower you with knowledge to independently manage or prevent reoccurrence.
- How do you stay up-to-date with the best treatment options? Jim regularly attends continuing education courses, reads literature, and networks with his colleagues to stay on the cutting edge.
- Why will my experience be better with you than someone else? That's easy. We take every step to exceed your expectations before your first visit and even after you have completed your care with us.
